Working with research scientist, William Leschen, Christie responded to images and case studies of sustainable aquaculture international projects from PAPUSSA in Phnom Penh and Hanoi, SARNISSA in Cameron, USAID in Tanzania, to the Proteinsec project in Ghana.
Line-Culture is an installation of ceramic kelp seaweed (Saccharina latissima) suspended on bronze ropes, representing how seaweed is cultivated in sustainable aquaculture. Seaweed has long been grown in countries such as China, Japan, Tanzania and parts of the UK for food and fertilizer and for its bio-remedial benefits of uptake of nitrogen in marine environments.
